Requirements for obtaining a Marriage License in The Bahamas
- Both parties must be in The Bahamas at the time of the application
- Both parties must have resided in The Bahamas for not less than one day prior to the date of the application
- If either party is a minor (a person under 18 years of age) parental consent is required
- If either party has been divorced, the original or final decree or a court certified copy (with a raised seal) must be produced. For parties from countries whose native language is not English, the original decree must be produced in the native language along with a translated certified or notarized copy in English
- If either party is widowed, an original or certified copy of the death certificate of the deceased spouse must be produced
- If either party is unmarried, a declaration certifying this fact must be sworn before a notary public or other person authorized to administer oaths in The Bahamas and such declaration must accompany the application for the Marriage License
- Both parties must produce a valid passport for identification
- Both parties must produce evidence of the date of their arrival in The Bahamas (ie. Immigration card, which you receive when you enter The Bahamas)
- No blood test is necessary
- The fee for a Marriage License is USD$100.00
Note: Weddings Eleuthera will schedule your appointment to apply for your Marriage License in Eleuthera, Bahamas. Marriage Licenses are issued at the office of the Registrar General located in Nassau, Bahamas. This office is opened to the public Mondays thru Fridays between the hours of 9:30 am and 4:00 pm. The office is closed during weekends and Bahamian holidays.
